PARISH PROFILE

Bourtreehill and Broomlands was built as part of Irvine New Town Developement. The population is about 7,000. It is a parish with a good mixture of age groups although since a good percentage of people have bought their homes it has become a more fixed community. At present there are three primary schools of which the minister is chaplain, although it has been proposed that one new school should be build to accommodate the whole area, this is due on stream in 2014. Like many schemes its size there are the usual social problems such as unemployment etc.
